Recommendations for Future Research

FAMU calculates their institutional graduation rates based on a six year degree mapping plan. Below are the graduation rates for students under the most recent cohorts: 2004 and 2005. The students under this cohort have tentative mapping plans for a 2010 and 2011 graduation date. Future research needs to further assess the needs for a national calculation rate of six years for HBCUs instead of the current rate of four years. If this data is taken into consideration, the state of HBCUs might not appear so abysmal.
