Jonee' Lewis is a graduating Masters of Telecommunication student from the University of Florida. This project assessing the relevancy of HBCUS in the 21st Century is a part of of project-in-lieu-of-thesis submission. I received my undergraduate degree from Florida State University which is in close proximity to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. During my time there I always felt a rift between the black students at each school, even though we were all there for the same goal. The idea of this project came out of a concern for the current state of blacks in higher education at all institutions. I wanted to do a project about an issue that I cared about and hopefully shed more light on HBCUs and their place in society today. |
